Win Two Tickets to the GFFAFest in Portland This Weekend
I can't believe it is almost October and that I am heading back to Portland this weekend for the first time in more than 2 years. I used to go to Portland, Oregon regularly for work every four to six weeks from New York City for THREE YEARS. To say this burned me out would be an understatement! Now that my work Portland is in the past, fun Portland is only two days away. I can't wait to eat my way through one of my most favorite gluten-free friendly cities in the world.

I am speaking at the Gluten-Free Food Allergy Fest both Saturday and Sunday. Join me at 10:30am to hear all about my top gluten-free travel tips and how to navigate locally and beyond while maintaining a gluten-free diet. I will also be at blogger booth #331 both days. Please stop by and say hello. I would love to meet you!

Want to win two tickets to this weekend's event? Enter below! Don't delay. The giveaway ends on Thursday at 6pm EST.

2016 Gluten-Free Food Allergy Fest in Portland
It has been two years since I quit my Portland-based job and started my own gluten-free consulting business, GlutenFreelancer. After traveling back-and-forth to Portland from New York City more than 15 times in three years and basically living out of a suitcase, I had to put a pause on my Portland travels. Giving myself professional and mental distance from Portland made me realize how much I really enjoyed being in that city. Portland is by far one the most gluten-free friendly cities in the world. I have blogged about Portland often at Gluten-Free Globetrotter and I try to keep track of the gluten-free openings across the city.

This October, I am excited to return to Portland as both a gluten-free tourist, eating my way through the city, and a presenter at the 2016 Gluten-Free Food Allergy Fest. Join me on October 1st and 2nd as I share my gluten-free travel knowledge, my personal experience of living with celiac disease for more than 30 years, and so much more. The final schedule for the GFFAFest has not yet been posted, but I know I will be on the speaker stage both days and will post my speaking times as soon as I can. I will also have a seat at the bloggers booth, so be sure to stop by.

Will I see you on October 1st and 2nd? I hope so!

Harvester Brewing Gluten-Free IPA Party
This Wednesday, Harvester Brewing in Portland, OR is celebrating what may be the World's First Gluten-Free IPA. Join them for their release party! If I was in Portland this week, I would totally be there!

Harvester Open House, Belated Grand Opening, GFIPA Release Party
When Harvester Brewing opened, we were weren't in a position to have a huge grand opening party. Now we'd like to do a little something by inviting everybody down to the brewery for an open house to celebrate the release of what may be the World’s First Gluten-Free IPA.

Date: Wednesday July 11th, 2012
Time: 4pm to 9pm
Location: Harvester Brewing World Headquarters, 715 SE Lincoln St. Portland, OR 97214

About the Open House/Release Party/Belated Grand Opening
On the 11th we'll be opening up our brewery to celebrate the release of our GFIPA #1. This is also a rare opportunity to experience the IPA on draft, as we'll be pouring from kegs at the brewery. We'll be sharing free tastes of our whole lineup or you can choose to enjoy an 8 oz. glass for $1. We will also have bottles, cases and t-shirts on sale to go. Our very own chef/delivery-driver/bottle-labeler, Ralph Capolupo will be making some great GF appetizers to snack on while you hang out.

About the IPA
We're excited to release the first in our line of IPAs under the Experiment Ale label. This GFIPA #1 uses Horizon, Willamette, Cascade and Meridian hops for a piney, citrusy, truly northwest IPA bitterness, flavor and aroma. The body to support these hops comes from our pale roasted chestnuts, oats, and organic tapioca maltodextrin.  We plan to release a few different IPAs throughout the year featuring different hops to keep things interesting. This first IPA should start hitting store shelves the week of the 16th.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on the 11th.

Gluten-Free Paradise?
Hello dear readers from the lovely Portland, OR. I am here for work this week and was totally freaking out all of last week in preparation for this trip. Although I travel extensively for fun, I never had a colleague plan my entire trip for me... meals and all. I have to say I am quite impressed with Portland so far in terms of gluten-free dining. There are gluten-free menus everywhere. Usually I do a lot of research and look for gluten-free restaurant destinations. Here, I don't even have to look hard for menus because I am finding them everywhere. I am still using my map but I am finding gluten-free options in some really unassuming places.

I plan to write up my Portland tales on my Gluten-Free Globetrotter site as soon as I get home. In the meantime, I assure you Portland understands this whole gluten-free thing and I feel quite relieved.
